Bryan and I are excited about welcoming a new baby to the family within the next 5ish weeks. We are technically due on August 31. Emily, who is no nearly 2.5 years old, insists that his name is going to be "Pink." She points to her own stomach and calls it her "Baby Brother." So...I'm not really sure that she 'gets it.' I'm sure that will change quickly once he arrives. I think she'll be excited but adjusting to not being the only kid in the house is going to be a healthy challenge for her.
Baby Boy Katz isn't here yet, but he sure is keeping me busy already. I've been labeled as 'high risk' due to the history with Emily and also some little bumps we've had in this pregnancy. Therefore, they are seeing me weekly for ultrasounds, twice weekly for non-stress tests and appointments with the obstetricians. I feel great and he consistently looks great on all of their monitoring. So, we will just keep taking it a day at the time and hope for a wonderfully healthy baby boy to join our family soon.

Emily loves most anything Disney (in fact, we've made three trips to Magic Kingdom this year!). Her favorite Disney story is "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." She can quote most of the story (Little Golden Book version), but the other day she quoted it in context to another conversation. I asked her what she thought about a little brother coming to live in our house. She said "Mama, he's gonna be trouble. Mark my words." This is what Grumpy says in the story when he sees Snow White. It made me smile then and it still makes me smile now. Anyway, she is a total girly girl. Loves dressing up, pretty bows, flowers, princesses....loves playing with Little People, reading books, swinging, chasing Beamer, etc.
We are still trying hard to get Emily to gain weight. We've been seen at the UVA specialty clinic for her weight gain twice and they assure us that she is small, but perfectly healthy. So, we are still encouraging her to eat anything she wants but no more medication or major worries! She is tiny, but so wonderfully sweet and cute!
I have officially finished all my degree requirements for my Doctor of Nursing Practice. The degree will be conferred on August 5th and then I will also be Dr.Katz. :) It feels really great to have all of that behind me. I'm enjoying having my summer off to spend time with Emily and get things organized for the arrival of a new baby.
Bryan is working hard at his SAIC job and also teaching one summer class for Virginia Tech. Work requires him to travel every other week to Northern Virginia. :(
Here are some other pics from my phone taken over the summer...
My play house kitchen from when I was a little girl - all cleaned up and ready for Emily!
My cousin Heather and I are due less than one week apart - we are both expecting baby boys!
Emily and Emma on July 4th.
My precious sleeping angel!
Busy concentrating....
Emily and Grandpa - both wearing ToXcel shirts too!
Emily catching lightening bugs with Papa John.
Doing her father's day craft - we make hand prints every year. This year, she picked purple as the color for her hands.
Riding on the Magic Carpet Ride at Disney World
Emily with her bathtime ducks.
Wearing her strawberry dress after a day of strawberry picking.
This darling girl looks for any reason to wear her tiara. This dress was one of mine growing up as well.
A small collage of Disney pictures - she loves it! Here is her with Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Ariel, Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Princess Jasmine and Aladin. Fun time and great memories!!!
Anyway - that's all I've got for now. I'll try to update again soon. Happy and Safe Summer to you all!
